Blake Group Provide Electrics & CCTV Cameras For Westcliff Estate

Last year the Essex based estate was making headlines in local newspapers after the tragic loss of a pregnant woman, who was killed in a fire in her 9th storey flat.

Our Electrical division is working alongside Blake Fire & Security Systems under the management of South Essex Homes and our work was featured in a local Southend-on-Sea newspaper, as well as on the Southend Borough Council website.

The Brecon, Blackdown and Grampian blocks are each receiving 5 security cameras, covering the ground floor and basement level entrances. The Grampian block will also have an extra CCTV camera in the car park to reduce antisocial behaviour and flytipping.

A spokesman for Southend-on-Sea Borough Council explained that the new security camera installations will offer peace of mind to the residents in the blocks and provide additional protection around the entrances.

The Executive Councilor For Housing, Mark Flewitt, said:

“We are all very aware of the May 2016 fire that tragically took the life of Khabi Abrey and her unborn child. Since that day, officers from South Essex Homes and I have met with many of her friends and family and agreed that we would look at improved security measures at the block entrances.“
